The residents and staff of Londonderry on the Tred Avon recently participated in the 2015 Festival of Trees. With this year’s theme as “It’s a Wonderful Life,” residents and staff decided the theme of their decorated tree would be “Sweet Memories of Our Wonderful Lives.” Londonderry residents donated ornaments that had a specific meaning in their lives or that came from happy memories. Ornaments included represented such special meanings as the first year they learned to knit, the year they traveled around the world, the summer they saw a bear in Alaska, a wooden miniature replica of their dog, and a sea shell they collected on a special beach trip. After decorating the tree with these ornaments, the residents surrounded the tree by a quilted tree skirt and 30 or more handmade angels made by Londonderry resident Thelma Haney.
