KEN DAVIS served in the Army after graduating from the University of Delaware in 1968 at the age of 21. He was drafted during the Viet Nam era and took basic training at Fort Bragg. Afterwards, Ken attended service schools at Fort Sam Houston and Fort Jackson. Then, he did a one–year tour at Long Bien base in Hanoi, Viet Nam. Ken was assigned to a veterinarian support unit that was responsible the welfare of working dogs, evaluating the quality of locally procured meats and vegetables, and performing necrotomic studies for rabies on indigenous animals. Ken obtained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class, with an MOS for biological technology. His Army duty was concluded in 1971 and he moved to St. Michael’s where he had an antique and home décor store for over 20 years before retiring with his wife, Mary, at Londonderry.
