RALPH F. ALFENITO M.D. was a United States Navy physician. Ralph’s education was attained at Columbia University, Boston University School of Medicine, St. Luke’s in New York City, and Columbia Presbyterian. He was a participant in the Navy Berry Plan, with the obligation of two years active service, which he spent at the Portsmouth, New Hampshire Naval Hospital. Ralph retired from the Navy with the rank of lieutenant. After leaving the Navy, Ralph was an attending physician in the Anesthesia Department of Huntington Hospital on Long Island, New York. He was elected Chief of Service and was appointed to the Board of Governors. An interesting note: Ralph served as a village trustee and police commissioner in Lloyd Harbor, New York, where he lived with his family for 57 years. What does Ralph prize most from his service: the quality of care that was given to the sailors and marines and their families who were his patients.
