Londonderry on the Tred Avon is breaking ground for the next phase of its expansion, offering a new model of cottage for its residents. The one-floor two-bedroom, two-bath over 1300 square-foot cottages are being built to suit, with such new features as an open floor plan, a roomy kitchen pantry, a larger master suite, and a garage, as well as an optional fireplace.
According to Rachel Smith, Director of Sales and Marketing at Londonderry on the Tred Avon, “The new design came from feedback from residents in the six new cottages we built in 2015 and 2016. We had a lot of positive feedback from homebuyers and are excited to offer this new model, in addition to the other models we have built.”
Elaine Utley, President of the Board of Directors of Londonderry on the Tred Avon adds, “Our new cottages are smaller and more affordable, which will be attractive to retirees.”
In 1992, Londonderry Retirement Community was built on 24-acres at the head of the Tred Avon Creek, originally part of a 1664 land grant known as Westmoreland that was granted to Irish immigrant Francis Armstrong. As the property changed hands over the next 100 years, it became known as London Derry, and eventually Londonderry on the Tred Avon, as it is called today.
Smith adds, “We are looking forward to building more cottages in this next phase to accommodate our growing retirement community.”
