The Activities Committee presented a highly entertaining afternoon program on March 13.
Susan and Bob Jones met in college and played their first clarinet duet there. They not only make beautiful music together, they are enjoying retirement on Tilghman Island and anticipating the fifty-third anniversary of their marriage.
Susan pursued a career playing her instrument, but Bob branched out into music management on the executive level. When he retired from the Kennedy Center, he picked up the clarinet again. He admits to playing “second clarinet” and is “trying to catch up.” His humorous commentary punctuates their program.
Their playing is augmented by pre-recorded piano accompaniment played by Susan and a great pianist friend on the West Coast. Their selections range from classical to pop to polkas, Cuban to Brazilian to Russian, Scott Joplin to Pete Fountain. They have mastered their instruments and the large Londonderry audience warmly applauded their beautiful musical program.
