Londonderry on the Tred Avon joins Facebook

Aug 29, 2017 | News

Londonderry on the Tred Avon recently joined Facebook, another step in its commitment to serve its residents, residents families and the surrounding community in a multitude of ways.

“We really wanted to reach out to the community and show them what we’re all about,” said Kristina Carson, marketing assistant at Londonderry. “Friends and family can check in and see what we’re up to — to keep connected is such a big thing.”

Since the page was created at the end of July, it has accumulated more than 100 followers. This has allowed staff members, residents and families to share news about Londonderry and what everyone is up to in residential community and when away, photos of residents at various activities and details of upcoming events.

“Now we can let people know what’s going here at Londonderry on a daily basis.” Carson said. “It’s all about showing that you can enjoy your life, your way.”

Carson says the reception so far has been great. In fact, Londonderry is even planning a special class to help those residents who aren’t on Facebook sign up and learn about the social media site. She estimates that about 25 percent of Londonderry’s residents are already using it.

“You’re going to have the most up to date information at your fingertips,” Carson said. “It’s wonderful.”

Sarah Sadler is one of those Londonderry residents already using Facebook. While she’s been on for several years, she says it’s another example of how communication and information sharing have changed over her lifetime and the lifetimes of many other residents. While she didn’t even start using email until her 40s, she said she thinks the page is a great way to stay connected to the community she and her husband love.

“We love our house, we love the people, and we’re both very active in the community,” Sadler said.

Located in Easton, Md., Londonderry on the Tred Avon is an intimate residential cooperative community for adults ages 62 and up, offering a variety of housing options from convenient apartments to spacious cottages among 29 acres, including 1500 feet of waterfront shoreline.
