Celebrating 35 Years of Londonderry on the Tred Avon

For 35 years, Londonderry on the Tred Avon has been a place where neighbors become friends, independence is celebrated, and community truly comes first. Locally owned and operated since the beginning, Londonderry is proud to celebrate this special milestone with our residents, team, and the greater community.

Nestled along the peaceful waters of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Londonderry was founded with a forward-thinking vision:
– A place where retirees could live life on their own terms
– Remain independent
– Have a meaningful voice in the community they call home

From the start, Londonderry has been more than a residence—it is a resident-owned cooperative community, shaped by shared experiences, lasting friendships, and a deep connection to the land and water that surround us.

Highlights

January

Donations collected for the Talbot Humane Society

In January, Londonderry residents and team members gave back to our friends at the Talbot Humane Society. Many of our residents and team members have pets they dearly love or fondly cherish the memories of pets who have been part of their lives. Several residents have also opened their hearts and homes by adopting senior animals from local shelters.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, all donated items were Sailor-approved!

February

Supporting the Londonderry- Satellite Rotary Club Senior Supply Drive

In February, Londonderry proudly supported our Satellite Rotary Club in its efforts to give back through the Senior Supply Drive hosted by the Talbot County Health Department.

Each year, the Londonderry Satellite Rotary Club helps support senior citizens throughout Talbot County by collecting essential supplies and items that many individuals may struggle to afford. Thanks to the generosity of our residents, we made meaningful contributions to help local seniors maintain their health, dignity, and independence.

Supporting the Neighborhood Service Center (NSC) Food Pantry

As part of celebrating Londonderry’s 35th anniversary, our residents and team members wanted to give back to the community that has supported us for decades 💙

Throughout the year, we are highlighting local charities that hold special meaning for our residents, their families, and our team.

In March, we were proud to support the Neighborhood Service Center Food Pantry. Together, we collected a tremendous number of needed items—so many that it took multiple trips to deliver them all! In addition, we raised over $200 in monetary donations to help support their mission.

We are so thankful to our residents, families, and team members for their generosity and continued commitment to giving back. Your kindness is what makes our community so special.

Resident Impact: April Giving Back Success

St. Vincent de Paul, Easton, MD

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Londonderry residents, our April Giving Back initiative in support of St. Vincent de Paul – Easton was a tremendous success.

Residents donated over three carloads of items, including clothing, housewares, home décor, and non-perishable food. These contributions will go directly toward supporting local individuals and families in need throughout Talbot County.

We’re also excited to continue our partnership by hosting a St. Vincent de Paul pop-up shop in early May, further supporting their mission.

Once again, our residents have shown what makes this community so special: their generosity, compassion, and commitment to helping others continue to make a meaningful difference.

Supporting Our Military Families

As part of Londonderry on the Tred Avon’s 35th Anniversary celebration, residents and team members are proud to continue the long-standing tradition of giving back to the community.

In May, Londonderry’s Giving Back Spotlight supported For All Seasons and their Military Family Mental Health Access Campaign. Through the generosity of Londonderry residents, more than $700 was donated, with Londonderry matching every dollar raised.

This cause is especially meaningful on the Eastern Shore, where 1 in 4 residents is connected to the military as a service member, veteran, or immediate family member. Donations help provide same-day counseling services, 24/7 crisis support, and culturally informed mental health care for veterans and their families.

Together, Londonderry residents are making a meaningful impact while celebrating 35 years of community, compassion, and service.

Supporting Imagination Library of Talbot County

As part of Londonderry’s 35 Years of Giving Back celebration, our residents and team members came together throughout June to support Imagination Library of Talbot County (ILTC), a local nonprofit dedicated to promoting early childhood literacy and ensuring every child has access to books at home.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, Londonderry donated more than $3,000 to Imagination Library of Talbot County.

Because it costs just $25 to provide a child with a new book every month for an entire year, our donation will provide more than 1,440 books to children throughout Talbot County. These books will help inspire a lifelong love of reading while supporting language development, literacy skills, creativity, and kindergarten readiness for local children.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed to this meaningful effort. Your generosity is making a lasting investment in the future of children in our community.

Supporting Endless Vision’s Back-to-School Drive

As part of our 35 Years of Giving Back celebration, Londonderry proudly partnered with Endless Vision to help local students prepare for a successful school year.

Throughout the month of July, our residents, families, and team members generously donated new backpacks and school supplies in support of Endless Vision’s annual Back-to-School Drive, led by Londonderry team member Bobby Johnson. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we collected more than 30 backpacks along with an abundance of school supplies that will be distributed to children throughout Talbot County.

Every backpack, notebook, and pencil donated helps ensure local students begin the school year with the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed.

August Spotlight: Alzheimer’s Association

This August, Londonderry is proud to support the Alzheimer’s Association, an organization dedicated to advancing research, providing resources, and supporting individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Founded in 1980, the Alzheimer’s Association has become the leading nonprofit organization focused on accelerating research toward prevention, treatment, and ultimately a cure while providing education, care, and support services to those navigating the challenges of dementia.

Through programs, advocacy, research funding, and resources for caregivers and families, the Alzheimer’s Association continues to bring hope and assistance to millions of people affected by this disease.

At Londonderry, we recognize that many individuals and families in our own community have been touched by Alzheimer’s and dementia. Supporting organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association reflects our ongoing commitment to caring for others and strengthening the communities we call home.

Throughout the month of August, we invite residents, team members, and friends of Londonderry to join us in supporting the Alzheimer’s Association through monetary donations.
