I was born and raised in the Washington DC area, specifically Arlington and Falls Church, VA. I graduated from Mary Washington College in 1970. After a first job on Capitol Hill, I spent most of my working life as a legal secretary and paralegal at DC law firms specializing in environmental and public interest litigation – Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll (1987-2012), Trial Lawyers for Public Justice (1985-87), Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund (1984-85), Natural Resources Defense Council (1973-1984). I met and married my husband Phil Gibson in 1993. In 2006, when Phil retired from the Red Cross, we moved to New Bern, NC, where we spent 10 years. I continued working remotely for the law firm while Phil worked part-time for the local hardware store and messed about with sailboats. In 2016, we left NC and moved to Severna Park.

I am a proud step-mother to Phil’s son Chris and step-grandmother to his two sons Calvin (9) and Forest (6) who live in Portland, OR.

My interests include food and cooking (my heroines are Julia Child and M.F.K. Fisher and I even helped to edit a cookbook), gardening (after retirement I became a Master Gardener and worked at public gardens in New Bern and Annapolis) and reading and crossword puzzles. I participate in two book clubs and a Great Decisions group sponsored by AAUW. I also took up ceramics at Anne Arundel Community College while we lived in Severna Park.

We have been at Londonderry since Jan. 31, 2024. We were lucky to have wonderful neighbors in Severna Park and we feel lucky again to be meeting so many interesting people here at Londonderry.
